Tunny intercept — authored Lorenz message

demo Open · freely redistributable

An original (CC0) plaintext about Colossus, enciphered with a from-scratch model of the German Lorenz SZ40 cipher: five chi wheels, five psi wheels and two motor wheels (501 pins), with an authored key. Colossus reads this ciphertext as a paper-tape loop and counts Bill Tutte’s double-delta coincidences; the correct chi-wheel start position makes the thyratron ring counter climb far above the mean, revealing the setting. With every wheel set, the tape deciphers back to the plain message. Not a wartime intercept — authored so the whole break is reproducible and freely shareable.
