The reconstructed FRONT dial of the Antikythera Mechanism. Turning the crank drives the great wheel b1 (once per year) and, through the surviving Sun and Moon gear trains (including the pin-and-slot lunar anomaly), moves the mean-Sun/date pointer round the 360° zodiac and 365-day Egyptian calendar, the Moon pointer with its half-black/half-white phase ball, and the five planet pointers. No CPU, no ROM — an original model of the bronze gearing.
