Tempest

game Grey · copyright, community-distributed

Tempest (Atari, 1981), designed by Dave Theurer, is the colour vector-graphics arcade classic in which the player rides the rim of a tube shooting Flippers, Tankers, Spikers and Fuseballs that climb toward them, sweeping the field with the Superzapper. It runs on a MOS 6502 driving the Atari Analog Vector Generator with a bit-slice math box for the tube projection. These are the original Atari 6502 program, vector and math-box ROMs (rev 3); they remain the copyright of Atari and are hosted here on a grey-area preservation basis.
