BBC micro:bit v2
2020
The BBC micro:bit v2 (2020) is a small education board built on a Nordic nRF52833: a 64MHz ARM Cortex-M4F with 512KB flash and 128KB RAM. On board are a 5x5 LED matrix, two buttons (A and B), an LSM303AGR accelerometer, and the headline v2 upgrade of an on-board speaker that plays real sound through the chip's PWM peripheral.

Controls
Runs real bare-metal BBC micro:bit V2 programs on an in-browser Nordic nRF52833 (ARM Cortex-M4F). The default is "Music: Melody + Heart" — an original CC0 program that plays "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" (traditional, public domain) on the on-board SPEAKER by programming the real nRF52 PWM peripheral on P0.00, one COUNTERTOP per note, while animating a heart / musical-note on the 5x5 LED matrix. This is the v2 upgrade over v1: it makes SOUND. Click the Sound button to unmute. "Flashing Heart" pulses the classic heart and beeps on each big beat; "Buttons + Tones" shows a face and plays a high beep on A / a low beep on B; "Tilt Dot" rolls a lit dot with the accelerometer. ALL on-screen controls — A/B buttons, the tilt D-pad and Shake/Flat — live in the shared debugger's Controller input panel. Keyboard: A/B = buttons, arrows = tilt, S = shake; click the display first so it captures the keyboard. Open the debugger, or add ?debug, to single-STEP real Thumb instructions, set PC breakpoints and write watchpoints, and read the ARM registers (r0-r15, xPSR, N/Z/C/V, and the FPU s0-s31) and the real nRF52 memory map live. Honest limits: the radio / BLE are stubbed (no real RF); the microphone and touch logo are not wired.
