ARM Cortex-A (ARMv7-A application processor)

Cortex-A is ARM's application-processor line — full ARMv7-A cores with a memory-management unit doing real page-table walks, ARM and Thumb state, banked registers and the CP15 system coprocessor. These are the Linux-class ARM cores at the heart of single-board computers like the Raspberry Pi's Broadcom SoC. On this site the family is represented by a full-system exhibit that boots a real ARM Linux kernel to a shell on an emulated ARMv7-A core tile — an honest Pi-class ARM, the same application-processor architecture as a Raspberry Pi, rather than the exact Broadcom BCM2835 silicon.
